Uganda’s Majestic Mountains

Uganda, famously known as the “Pearl of Africa,” is a land of diverse landscapes and breathtaking natural wonders. The Rwenzori Mountains.

The Virunga Mountains are commonly known for being a home to the golden monkeys and the endangered mountain gorillas. Many people come to the place to trek the endangered species and also to view the unique Albertine birds that are found in the National parks surrounding the mountains and it is a good place for all those who love adventure.

As visitors trek through the lush forests of the Virunga mountains, guided by experienced rangers, they have a chance to encounter these gentle giants up close in their natural habitat. Mount Elgon

The mountain’s highest point, named “Wagagai”, is located entirely within Uganda. Although there is no verifiable evidence of its earliest volcanic activity, geologists estimate that Mount Elgon is at least 24 million years old, making it the oldest extinct volcano in East Africa. The mountain’s name originates from its Maasai name, Elgonyi.
